Top woman Maoist leader in Andhra surrenders

 Warangal (AP): A top woman Maoist leader in Andhra Pradesh surrendered to the police here today. Prameela alias Swarnakka alias Vidhya, who surrendered before Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra, was commander of Venkatapuram Special Guerrilla Squad (SGS) in Khammam district, police said.

Earlier, she worked as a member of North Telangana Special Zonal Committee (NTSZC), which looks after the security of important Maoist leaders. She surrendered due to ill health, they said.

A total of 23 criminal cases, including seven related to murder, were registered against her in Khammam and Warangal districts, police said.
 
The surrendered Naxal leader had worked in Chhattisgarh s Bastar region for four years before returning to Warangal in 2003,police added. Prameela is the widow of state Maoist leader Rajapapaih, who was killed in an exchange of fire with the police in July this year at Medaram forest in Warangal district.
