Dharmapuri: The special naxal wing of Tamil Nadu police has arrested local “naxalite” leader S Suresh, who was “absconding” for over a decade. Suresh alias Justine (35) was arrested from his native village Hanumantharayapuram in Dindigul district in the wee hours yesterday, police said. He had worked as the state office bearer of naxal students wing Radical Students Union (RSU) in Dharmapuri district from 1987 to 1997. Suresh was also wanted in connection with an assault case registered in Krishnapuram and was absconding since 1997,they added. Police team led by Naxal Special Duty Wing Inspector R Senthil arrested Suresh following a tip-off yesterday. He was later produced before a magistrate court which remanded him to judicial custody. The arrest follows detention of five naxalites from Theni district recently.
