Bhutan cracks down on rebels ahead of first poll

GUWAHATI, India (Reuters) – Bhutanese soldiers and police have launched a crackdown against ethnic Nepali rebels ahead of the tiny, isolated Himalayan nation’s first parliamentary elections this month, officials said on Wednesday.

Maoist killed in AP

A Maoist was killed on Wednesday in an encounter with police some 170 km from Karimnagar, police said.
G Sampath of Mahadevpur area was killed after police retaliated when the Maoist opened fire near Peddavagu Nimmagudem and Pegadapalli villages, they said.
